finding hotels in kodaikanal is difficult for a single person
This was a problem for me in Kodaikanal. There are several hotels near the Kodaikanal bus station. Many taxi drivers and agents are noticeable to book taxis or hotels in order to earn a commission. One approached me and said, “Sir, you will not get a hotel for a single person.” I can recommend a hotel where you can book a room. After hearing such a thing, I was taken aback. I wondered what the issue is for a single person.
I went to a hotel and he flatly refused to give me a room, despite the fact that rooms were available on numerous online booking platforms. When I asked what would happen if I booked online, he said there are no rooms available and was rude. I went to another hotel, which he also denied, so I asked him why he is not giving me a room. “Sir, some crime occurred here, so we do not give the room to a single person,” he replied. We only give to families, couples, or groups of people. When I asked what kind of crime he is talking about, he didn’t elaborate and tried to avoid answering.
When I got outside, another agent approached me about a hotel room, and I decided to take his advice because I had already refused by three hotels. Finally, I was able to book a hotel room. Fortunately, it was a nice room with a balcony from which I could enjoy the beautiful city view.
If you are travelling alone to Kodaikanal, book a hotel on call only and obtain confirmation from the property; otherwise, they will refuse check-in regardless of whether you booked online.
