Hi dear reader! If you happen to be in Siliguri, or if you are a resident of Siliguri, or if you live anywhere else in India, this blog is for you. I’m going to explore a wonderful location that you should visit at least once. Actually, I was on an official trip and was looking forward to seeing my best friend after 8 years. I asked him to think of an amazing location where we could celebrate our joyful friendship. He took me to Gorubathan, which amazed me when I arrived. Let me tell you the whole story about Gorubathan, a great place to visit near Siliguri.

the story behind this 8-year reunion
Before I tell you about this meeting, I’d like to tell you how we became best friends because he lives in Siliguri and I live in Gujarat.
In my previous job, I was positioned in Kolkata and lived in Siliguri from 2010 to 2014. He (Norden Sherpa) was in the air force at the time, but he is now retired and works for SBI.
We were neighbors who enjoyed playing badminton and football together. Became best friends over time because we shared the same ideology. Used to go out for evening snacks more frequently. It was an amazing time. He comes from a nice and loving family. His wife, Sushma Gurung, is a working professional who is wise and understanding.
In the meantime, he was transferred to New Delhi, and I changed jobs. I moved to Rajkot and began working on my new responsibilities. Despite the fact that we were always in contact.
how we planned to travel to Gorubathan
As the Head of Marketing, I travel throughout India. As a result, I travelled to Shillong to meet with my client, and I saw this as an opportunity to visit Siliguri and meet my friend too.
I told him all about my trip. He arrived at NJP station to greet me, and I was overjoyed to see him after such a long time. When you meet your best friend, all of your old memories begin to flash back.Â
I just asked him to plan a beautiful natural location where we could relax, but I had no idea where he would take me. The next morning, he told me we are going to Gorubathan, which I had never heard of, but I was sure that whatever he will do, he will do fantastic.
How to reach Gorubathan
Â
We checked out of the hotel and began driving from Siliguri to Gorubathan in his car. The dense forest was mesmerising as we passed through the Bengal Tiger Reserve. It is a huge forest, and the horizon view looked like the road was going to get lost in it.Â
Arrived in Sevoke after 20 minutes of driving, and the zig-zag hilly road began, with a beautiful Tista river view on the downside. After a few miles, we crossed the river bridge and entered the Dooars region by turning right. Gorubathan is located on the Bagrakot Road.
Â
After a few moments, the beautiful landscape of tea gardens begins. As far as the eye can see, there is a wide and beautiful horizon view with full lush green tea gardens. Wow ! What a fantastic place.
Driving through such beautiful scenery while listening to your favourite music. You simply cannot express how you feel.
Â
We stopped in Bagrakote and bought some snacks from a roadside restaurant. It was delicious. We moved on after finishing the tasty snacks.

We were on our way to Gorubathan when we were forced to stop for a moment by a group of elephants crossing the road. I got out of the car and walked towards the elephants because I wanted to get a close look at them.Â
Gorubathan is 60 km away from Silguri and it took 1.30 hour to reach there.Â
You will be amazed to be in Gorubathan
We left our luggage at a homestay and began walking around the area. Wow, high mountains, areca nut trees, and a lush green forest! You will become engrossed in nature’s stunning beauty.
We walked down to the Fagu River and bought a lot of food and drinks. We took our music box with us and stepped straight into the river.Â
It’s a very peaceful location. You can spend an entire day here alone or with family.
The flowing river creates a sweet melody that relaxes you. The river’s water is so clean that you can drink it without hesitation.
We reached there around 4 p.m. and returned to homestay around 9 p.m. We talked a lot, danced, listened to music, and ate delicious food. Everything was fantastic.
When we returned to the homestay, special homemade yummy food awaited us. I think I ate two times more than my usual diet. LOL..

where to stay in Gorubathan
First and foremost, I’d like to state that this is not a sponsored blog. I recommend staying here because it is a fantastic homestay.
We stayed at Sai Parijat Homestay, which is owned and operated by an ex-army family. The people are extremely humble and cooperative. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Food is something you will never forget. They prepare delectable meals.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I must say again that Gorubathan is the best place to visit near Siliguri and I would to come again. See you at the next destination. Take care!!
